Falmouth Coastguards are asking boat owners to register their emergency beacons, after an early morning call out ended up finding that one had activated on dry land.

The Coastguard rescue team and Falmouth all weather lifeboat were called out at 4.50am on Tuesday to help locate where the signal was coming from after a beacon activated in the Falmouth area.

Following a search of the water by the lifeboat and foreshore by the Coastguard team, it was established that the signal was coming from the Park & Float area of Falmouth.

A spokesman said: “Having gained access following making contact with the security company, a thorough search of the area but nothing found. Many thanks to the security company for assisting early this morning, and apologies for the early call. If you have an EPIRB don't forget to register it.”
