Falmouth has celebrated St Piran’s Day with a parade through the streets this morning.

Crowds of people dressed in black and white and proudly flying the St Piran's flag gathered at the Methodist Church on The Moor at 9.30am where there was singing and Cornish music.

Pupils from seven of the town's schools attended, the best turn out yet say organisers.

The parade set off at 10.30 am along Webber Street, up High Street, back down to Prince of Wales Pier before returning to The Moor where there was be dancing on the piazza.

"There were lots of happy smiling faces and the kids seemed to enjoy it, which is the main thing," said one of the organisers, Vicki Ferguson.
