St Agnes RNLI Lifeboat rescued a female bodyboarder from a rip current on Sunday evening at Trevaunance Cove.
The volunteer crew launched at 7.12pm following reports of a surfer in trouble, and carried out a search in darkness with the help of parachute flares to illuminate the search area and the St Agnes Coastguard Search and Rescue Team who were situated on the cliffs.
The crew of the lifeboat Blue Peter IV then requested a radio silence which enabled them to hear the casualty’s shouts and locate her.
Once in the boat, the casualty was suffering from the cold and vomiting so crew members Kit Watkins and Richard Llewellyn performed first aid on her.
They quickly returned to shore where a doctor on the beach continued with the first aid including administering oxygen until the paramedics arrived on scene.
Crew member Kit Watkins said: "Time was of the essence this evening as light was fading quickly. Luckily we have regular night exercise training sessions and were able to put these into practice.
"This evening was a good example of teamwork between the RNLI Lifeboat, St Agnes Coastguard Team and the paramedics working together."
