Cornwall Council has expressed disappointment that its bid for Coastal Communities funding to carry out improvements to the Jubilee Pool in Penzance has not been successful.

Responding to the news that the Jubilee Pool project has not been included in the list of schemes allocated funding, Adam Paynter, Cornwall Council’s cabinet member for partnerships, said: “While it is obviously very disappointing that our bid for this round of funding has been turned down I am encouraged by the positive comments from the Coastal Communities team who have indicated that they would welcome another bid to be made in due course.

"However, since the bid was submitted the pool has sustained significant storm damage, alongside many other coastal assets across Cornwall, and this will now provide an opportunity to revisit and prioritise the issues to determine the best way forward”

“The Council is committed to exploring how to secure a sustainable future for Jubilee Pool; we met with the local Cornwall Councillors, representatives of Penzance Town Council and the Friends of Jubilee Pool last week to discuss how to achieve this and we will continue to work closely with them to that end."
