The Falmouth Spring Festival was launched on Thursday under brilliant blue skies with students of all ages handing out 12,000 daffodils to the town’s businesses and their customers.

The annual Paint the Town Yellow Day is one of the highlights of the festival which runs until the end of the month. A handful of pupils from King Charles and St Francis primary schools were joined by students from Falmouth School and student ambassadors from Falmouth University when they descended on the town armed with bunches of the yellow flowers.

The youngsters, accompanied by festival volunteers, gave around 25 shops through the main street a bit of make-over, transforming their window displays using the daffodils and props created ahead of time by the university students.

Over 100 other shops and businesses were also given a share of the thousands of daffodils which had been donated by Fentongollan Farm, Winchester Growers and Richards of Cornwall.

Once the town centre had been saturated with the flowers, the pupils and students made their way out to the seafront where they distributed more to the hotels along Cliff Road.
