The seeds were sown for a productive summer of fruit and vegetable growing at St Gluvias Church in Penryn.

Incredible Edible, a group set up to encourage people to grow food at home, held a seed swap in the church’s hall and community garden, as sunny weather meant mind’s started to turn towards the garden.

Around 70 to 80 people turned up to swap their own seeds or to collect those donated by B&Q, Carnon Downs Garden Centre, the More Veg seed company, Trago Mills, and Wilkinson’s.

Karen Narramore, one of the organisers, said: “Thank you to everyone who attended, it was a great success and a kick-start to this year's growing season.

“I think now we have some sunny, dry weather, people are getting out into their gardens again and starting to think about what they are going to grow.”

There were activities from the Glasney Green Space Regeneration Project making insect decorated cakes, Nature Workshops helping with plant identification for health, Falmouth SEEDS project making mini bug homes, and Penryn College weaving willow mini baskets and nesting pouches for birds, as well as seed-bomb making for children.

There was also Goan coconut vegetable curry on offer, and the group raised £230 from donations and sales of tea and cake.

Incredible Edible will be holding a seed sowing event at Penryn College on March 29 at 10am.
