Helston Rugby Club has joined a handful of clubs that have received accreditation from the Rugby Football Union in recognition of their best practice in administration and coaching.

The club was officially presented with its RFU Accreditation Award by the Cornwall Rugby Football Union chairman Dennis Preece and senior member of the Cornwall Rugby Football Union John Grindle.

The CRFU members were given a tour of the clubhouse and had an opportunity to discuss the Helston club’s future development plans. They also took the chance to watch Helston’s junior teams who had scheduled friendly matches against neighbours Penryn. Teams watched included under sevens, under eights, under nines and under 14s and representatives of other club teams were also present.

The accreditation award recognises that the club is following and adhering to the RFU’s recognised best practices in its administration, coaching and future planning.

Mr Preece said: “Helston should be very proud of its achievement in attaining RFU accreditation. Less than a handful of clubs in the county have so far been awarded it. I wholeheartedly congratulate them.

“It is a credit to the committee and volunteers that all the hard work they put in is recognised in this way and I hope receiving it will be a stepping stone to help push Helston to achieve its development goals and continue to grow as a strong and successful club.”

Helston Rugby Club chairman Brian Hosken Helston thanked the CRFU representatives. He said: “Helston is a strong family club. We should all be proud that our hard work has been recognised with this award. We rely on all of our volunteers and I would therefore like to take this opportunity to thank all of them for all they do to help make this club what it is.”
