Schools across Falmouth and beyond were awash with sports heroes and heroines on Friday, March 21, to raise money for Sport Relief.
Pupils from Mawnan Smith, Mylor and King Charles primary schools were invited to dress up as their favourite sportsman or woman, or just in sports clothing, in return for a £1 donation, with all money donated to Sport Relief. St Francis Church of England School pupils also raised money by dressing up, but instead they wore red clothes.
St Francis, King Charles and Mylor Schools joined in with much of the nation to complete the Sport Relief Mile; to walk, run, jog or even skip a mile or further and getting sponsored to do so. St Francis pupils paired up with their “buddies” to take part in a walk around the school, totalling a mile, to earn extra money to donate to the well deserving charity.
Mylor and King Charles completed the mile dressed as netballers, footballers, horse-riders, boxers, and many other sporting personalities, with Jess Ennis proving to be a popular choice, with multiple sightings of the athlete throughout schools.
Mylor School have so far raised an impressive amount of £184 through their fundraising activities, with the other schools also raising substantial amounts to donate to Sport Relief.
