Members of Penryn Town Council’s planning committee are to hold a site visit over plans to build four one-person flats on land behind Broad Street.
The proposed site, between the back of 31 Broad Street and the rear of Speedy Hire on Commercial Road, has raised several points of concern, especially regarding access by construction workers and building materials.
The planning application, from G Proctor, has received three comments since being posted on Cornwall Council’s website, with concerns raised over vehicle access to the site, the suggestion that the flats would be out of fitting with nearby Georgian buildings in the town’s conservation area, and damage to existing trees.
Councillor Mary May said that during the process of a previously rejected application, it was decided that if flats were built, resulting revenue could be used to restore a currently dilapidated property on the same site, which is also part of the town’s conservation area.
