Staff at The Core Fitness and Wellbeing Centre have been busy preparing for their move from the top two floors of the former Post Office building on The Moor in Falmouth to the ground floor and basement.

With the move comes a host of changes that will open up the family owned health and fitness facility to the whole of Falmouth for the first time.

Owner Helen Tite said: “The move downstairs was not wanted by The Core but forced. It is what it is. We have less space and are suffering relocation at our expense so we have to transform, evolve and use the new space we have in a smart way.

“We have a vision that we want to share with our Falmouth community to create a fitness, wellbeing and meeting place with inclusive access to a safe sensory enriched, active environment not currently available elsewhere in Cornwall. This is ground breaking and we are continuing to break down the barriers to health facing our children, our friends and our neighbours.

“Our relocation to the ground floor allows our clients with access problems to come and train, play, exercise in a safe environment led by UK's Best Gym Team of 2013 as voted by the National Fitness Awards.”

Helen and her team are trying to raise £8,000 through Crowdfunder, for a new sensory floor. A huge range of rewards, such as tickets to a Beyonce-themed party, limited edition merchandise and having your name inscribed on the café furniture is available for people who pledge on www.crowdfunder.co.uk/TheCore.

“The new sensory-enriched space will also increase our capacity for our most popular classes where we currently have to turn clients away,” said Helen. “This is perfect timing for our new partnership with Trescobeas Surgery where we will be offering introductory classes and gym trials to their 9,200 patients.

“We are renowned for our health expertise as we have a team of exercise rehab specialists who already work across Cornwall delivering classes in balance and stability and a chair-based version to clients with long term neurological conditions such as Parkinson’s, Multiple Sclerosis, stroke and brain injury.”
