Magistrates have banned a man from entering Helston over charges of possessing a deadly weapon, namely a samurai sword.

Michael Llewellyn Glanville, aged 45, entered no plea when he appeared before magistrates in Truro on Tuesday, and the case was ordered to be sent directly to Truro Crown Court, due to the serious nature of the allegations.

The next hearing will now take place on May 9.

Glanville was given a number of bail conditions, including not to enter Helston.

He was given an electronically tagged curfew between 7pm and 7am each day and must spend each night at an address in St Clements Close, Truro, reporting to Truro Police Station between noon and 2pm each day.

He was ordered not to contact a Mr Sellars.
