Children in Porthleven had a “quacking” time at the weekend when they prepared for this Saturday’s Easter duck race.
Organised by Porthleven Community Group, it will be the second annual race taking place in the river next to the Moors Playing Fields, behind Costcutter.
In advance of the race, youngsters were invited to meet at the public hall last Saturday, to make ducks to enter into the race at 3pm.
Organiser Katie Thurston, secretary of the group, said: “It went really well – we were delighted.
"We had lots of support from the local community and lots turned up to make their ducks. We are looking forward to a good race next weekend.”
Plastic balls and empty cans were covered in papier mache, with the half finished ducks then taken home to decorate ahead of this weekend.
There will be prizes for the “best dressed” ducks, as well as the winning duck in the race that will see all “entrants” floated down the river.
This year will also see the introduction of “duck race part two” where people can sponsor a duck, with proceeds going to Porthleven Town Band.
Weather permitting there will be refreshments available after the races.
