Jonathan Griffin will be stepping down as Director this September after 11 years at the helm at the National Maritime Museum Cornwall.

With the museum’s new corporate Plan and fundraising programme in place, Jonathan felt the time was right for a younger person to steer the organisation over the coming years.

Although formerly retiring from the Museum Jonathan will continue to be involved in the heritage.

Jonathan said: “I am immensely grateful to everyone who has helped to make the National Maritime Museum Cornwall a success: staff, volunteers, partners, visitors and the local community. From those early dreams, I believe that together we have built something that will be a long-term success for Falmouth, for Cornwall and for maritime history generally. It has been a privilege to captain the ship.”

“I could not have wished for a more enjoyable job combining three things I love: the heritage, boats and Cornwall.”
