An arts and crafts fair at the Ord Statter Pavilion in Mylor Bridge has raised money and awareness for Cornish multiple sclerosis sufferers.

The Flushing and Mylor Spring Fair featured a range of local products, as well as refreshments, a prize raffle, and even musical bagpipe accompaniment.

The event, for the South and West Cornwall branch of the Multiple Sclerosis Society, raised £716, with funds hoped to exceed £1,000 due to a painting and a gold bracelet which are yet to be sold.

Gill Bray, the organiser, said: “It went really, really well. There was an excellent turnout from all over Cornwall.

“Lots of local businesses gave donations for the raffle, so we had over 40 prizes, and Pendennis shipyard also donated tea, coffee and sugar for the refreshment stall.

“Malcolm Glister [from the Multiple Sclerosis Society] attended with two or three other members and they were able to give out leaflets, and had a couple of people join who had only recently been diagnosed.

“Considering the weather, the atmosphere was fantastic; it was drizzly but everyone was helpful and cheerful.”
