Families flocked to Poldhu Cove near Mullion on Sunday to support the annual Easter River Duck Race.

The event, now in its fifth year, is held every Easter by Poldhu Beach Cafe to raise money for Children’s Hospice South West.

Ross and Natalie Hocking, owners of Poldhu Beach Cafe, said: “The day was a great success despite the heavy showers, and we would like to thank all the families who braved the rain and wind. Also a huge thank you for all the support from local businesses in the area.”

Activities ranged from sponsoring the ducks in the race to playing hook a duck and entering the Easter tombola, with prizes for the race donated by local shops and businesses.

Despite the wet weather, 503 ducks were sold, at £1 each, with £211 being raised by stalls, making a total of £714 raised.
