A group of young pro-riders made a splash this weekend at the opening of a new wakeboarding centre near Penryn.

Between 100 and 150 visitors braved the day’s weather to watch the group show off their flips and slides, and also had the chance to see ten lucky people having a wakeboarding lesson, at Kernow Wake Park, near Herniss.

Katy Roberts, the park’s manager, said: “It went surprisingly well considering the weather was ridiculous. We were in a storm, and a lot of people were surprised because the water was still flat. We didn’t let the weather stop us.

“We had hair braiding for the little girls, amazing burgers from the Underground Burger Company and a hot tub to show there is more to life than just wakeboarding.”
