A 22-year-old shoplifter from Budock Water was sent to prison for ten weeks at Truro Magistrates’ Court.

Luca Seaman told police he did not remember much about stealing food from a Londis store in Falmouth because he had been “quite drunk”.

In court he pleaded guilty to stealing from other shops in Falmouth and Helston, making three offences in all, involving goods of a total value of £21.76.

He also asked for two other offences of shoplifting to be taken into account.

One of these was the theft of sunglasses worth £120 from Specsavers.

Seaman, who also admitted breaching a suspended sentence, had previous convictions.

Solicitor Elliott Moore said Seaman had alcohol problems, but since these offences had managed to reduce his intake, and was hoping to get into a university.
