A Redruth charity will host a coffee morning on May 7 as part of a national event to involve older people in the community.

Royal Voluntary Service volunteers have arranged the event as part of the Great Brew Break, a national initiative taking place across Great Britain between April 28 and May 4.

Sharon Woodhams, Royal Voluntary Service locality manager for Devon and Cornwall: “We realised that we don’t all get together often enough to share a cup of tea and a chat. It’s because we’re all busy and time goes by, but that made us think what it must be like to sit in your house all day on your own, with no one coming to see if you’re ok.

“We thought why not get together, hold a fun event and raise money for older people’s services in our town. Why not come and join us for a cup of tea with friends old and new, and some you haven’t met yet.”

The Coffee Morning will be held on May 7 between 10am and midday at the charity’s Redruth hub at 62 West End.
