May Day revellers will be dancing through Penryn’s Glasney valley following the relocation of the town’s maypole.
The Glasney Greenspace Regeneration Project has taken over the running of this year’s festivities, on Sunday, May 4, which will start at 10am from Glasney Field with dancers led by local children and folk band Bagas Crowd.
Pip Carlton Barnes, from the regeneration project, said: “The dancers will move up through the valley to the Maypole on the henge, and I can only imagine what a spectacular backdrop the viaduct will make.”
As well as the main celebrations around the maypole, including a prize for the group who do the best weave, there will be games on the playing field, and community groups from the town will have stalls and workshops set up around the green at the end of the valley.
