Mount Edgcumbe Country Park is celebrating the re-birth of spring by constructing a huge green man figure made from storm smashed trees.
A special 'Gren Man' event will take place this weekend with food and craft stalls plus a wide range of family activities including English long bow archery, falconry displays, ancient wood crafts, Forest School activities, beer tents and a hog roast.
All this plus traditional May Fair entertainment, including the village stocks, and music provided by Black Friday (Saturday 3 May) and Serpentine (Sunday 4 May) – all woven around the central figure of the ancient spirit of nature.
The Green Man is the result of the cooperative work of Mount Edgcumbe’s gardeners, volunteers and artists from the Drawn to the Valley collective.
The staff at Mount Edgcumbe have been inspired to make a short animated film about the Green Man.
