A total of 30 firefighters were called to Hibernia Road, Helston this afternoon after reports of a fire at the community centre.
Crews from Helston, Mullion, St Keverne and St Ives were called out just after noon to deal with a fire in a single storey building measuring 50 metres by 15 metres.
The Packet has learned that it was the Culdrose Community Centre invovled in the emergency, which took place while firefighters were striking across the country.
It is understood that the fire occured in one of the building vents and was put out, with no visible damage from the outside.
Firefighters wore four sets of breathing apparatus and used two hosereels, two jets and two thermal imaging cameras.
They then used high pressure fans to ventilate the building.
