Residents, friends and visitors enjoyed an Easter open day at an Abbeyfield retirement home in Falmouth.

Tresillian House, in Stracey Road, held a hot cross bun party on Easter Saturday to raise money for the residents’ fund.

The staff and residents were delighted with the number of people who attended, which was estimated to be around 60.

Linda Harley, senior house manager, said: “It was brilliant. We had masses of people. I’d only got 24 hot cross buns.”

After buying more hot cross buns to feed the guests, a raffle was held and, together with donations, a total of £60 was raised.

The residents are yet to decide what they wish to spend the money on, but past excursions have included meals out and trips to the Hall for Cornwall.

Plans have already begun for more fundraising events, including Abbeyfield week, starting on June 7, and the house’s summer fete in July.

The house, which provides residents the privacy of their own accommodation with the companionship of others, along with home cooked meals and the support of the housing staff, currently has 11 residents, with one vacant room.
