Children and staff at Helitots Day Nursery, based at RNAS Culdrose, have had fun celebrating the Story of St George this year.

On St George’s Day the nursery was a buzz of activity throughout the day, with the youngsters creating their own princess hats and knight shields before finding out the best way to make the biggest sand castle.

Although there was sand everywhere, the children were delighted.

Fancy dress was the order of the day and everyone, including the staff, readily took up the challenge to come up with the most imaginative costumes.

Janice Thirlaway-Price, director of Helitots, said: “What a better way to celebrate St George’s day then to get all dressed up? The nursery was full of children in amazing dressing up outfits; we had wizards, dragons, princesses, knights and even a frog prince.”

For lunch the nursery cook Kirsty Smith, rustled up medieval hog roast banquet, fit for any king and queen.
