Falmouth Marine School is offering people the chance to come and have a go at marine biology, boatbuilding, marine engineering or watersports on Saturday, May 10.

There will be a marine CSI team investigating the suspicious death of a marine animal, which includes a dissection and getting friendly with the sharks and venomous fish in the college’s aquarium.

Shannon Clarke, 16, from Falmouth School who attended a previous marine biology taster, said: “It was a great opportunity to have a look inside the laboratories and be a college student for the morning.

“I really enjoyed feeding the sharks and finding out about all the different species they have in the tanks.”

Other sessions will include sailing, kayaking or stand-up paddle boarding with the watersports team or a basic introduction to boatbuilding or marine engineering at the college’s specialist workshops.

The sessions run from 10am until noon or 1pm until 3pm and booking is essential. To book a place visit www.collegeexperience.co.uk/falmouth-marine-school-taster or call 0845 22 32 567.
