A fire has broken out on a ferry at Falmouth Docks this afternoon.
It is understood to have involved the P&O Ferries’ vessel European Endeavour.
The fire has been described on Twitter by Penny Phillips, who works at the Docks at the Mission to Seafarers, as “small” with no damage caused or injuries sustained.
Emergency services were called to the scene, with sirens heard across the town.
Falmouth town councillor Rowenna Brock wrote on Twitter: “Something's going on at the Falmouth Docks – lots of sirens and the whistle has been blowing for ages...hope everyone's okay.”
It prompted Mrs Phillips to reply: “Thanks Rowenna, all under control and no damage or casualties.”
A fire service spokesman said: "Several calls were received for this incident, appliances from Falmouth, Truro, Camborne and Penzance were mobilised, as well as specialist resources from Penzance and St Just.
"The fire involved an oil tank which had ruptured alongside a ship, firefighters wearing breathing apparatus were committed at the scene with a hosereel jet and a main jet, Cornwall Fire & Rescue personnel have established water monitors and jets at the scene."
