Two dogs were pulled to safety after a fire at a three storey property at St Ives.

Firefighters were called to Trelawney Avenue on Friday evening, just after 8.15pm.

Both appliances from St Ives were mobilised, and found smoke pouring from the building. After a message was received that people were reported to be inside, further resources were requested and an appliance from Penzance was mobilised.

A fire service spokesman said: "The fire was in the kitchen area of a three storey semi detached building measuring ten by twelve metres, teams of firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used high pressure hosereels and a main jet at the scene.

A total of twenty one firefighters attended and crews searched the premises and confirmed that all persons were accounted for.

Two dogs were rescued from the building.

A fire investigation has taken place and the cause is classified as accidental.
