A new mayor has taken the helm of the port of Porthleven.
Former deputy Danny Williams was elected at a meeting last Thursday, replacing Mark Berryman. Barbara Powell was appointed as his deputy..
Mr Williams said: “I’m very honoured and thank councillor Berryman for his help and guidance over the last 12 months – it’s very much appreciated.
“Congratulations to Mark for the way he has dealt with everything. It’s not been an easy year.”
He announced the charities that he planned to support during his term of office as Porthleven Medical Centre and the port’s Christmas lights committee.
His mayor’s chaplain will be Rev Harry Pugh and a civic service will take place at St Bartholomew’s.
Mr Berryman was thanked for his work as mayor by councillor Andrew Wallis, who is also Cornwall Councillor for Porthleven.
He said: “Mark should be congratulated to what he has delivered and supported the town council through sometimes difficult times.
“There’s a lot that goes on behind the scenes. I’d like to say thank you to Mark on his retirement and he should feel very proud because often the work he does goes unnoticed.”
Mr Wallis added his “sincere congratulations” to Mr Williams and said he looked forward to working with him and Ms Powell.
