The coming of spring was celebrated in Ruan Minor with dancing and merriment on Saturday.
Pupils from the village primary school, Grade Ruan, performed the afternoon’s main entertainment, dancing around the maypole to a variety of tunes.
As they weaved colourful patterns with the ribbons, the watching parents and friends clapped and danced along.
The girls were dressed in their prettiest summer dresses, with flowers and ribbons in their hair, while the boys also dressed smartly.
Following their hard work the pupils were able to enjoy the rest of the activities at the May Fun Day, which included face painting, a bouncy castle and a visiting magician. A licensed bar ran into the evening, when local band 25 Degrees Centigrade played live.
For those that fancied having a go themselves, there was an open mic session throughout the afternoon.
Refreshments were served throughout, including Thai food during the evening from nearby Jumunjy Thai Kitchen.
