A Falmouth man has made an early start on becoming a politician, by trying to get cash from the public, to spend for his own benefit.

Jacob Williams, 23, has ambitions of one day being Prime Minister, and is asking people to dig deep to help him finance his continuing studies.

Jacob was brought up on a dairy farm in Maenporth and went to Penryn College and later Truro College, but now lives in Bristol.

He has an “overarching belief that we, the UK, have the ability to really develop as a society by collaborating on a level never seen before.”

He has been accepted in to the London School of Economics to study for an MSc in Sociology (Contemporary Social Thought) and then intends to study for his PhD within the same subject area.

However, Jacob has been unable to obtain any grants or scholarships, but it was suggested that he apply to StudentFunder to try and help raise the necessary funds.

Studentfunder.com is a crowd source funding website that assists postgraduate students in raising funds for their studies.

If Jacob raises £2,000 within the campaign time limit of 30 days, which expires on May 26, then he will be eligible for a further £8,000 loan from the organisation itself. This would then give him the ability to pay for the entirety of his tuition fees.

Jacob's campaign page contains more information about him along with a campaign video about why he wants to become Prime Minister. Find it at www.studentfunder.com.

He found his passion whilst studying for his A-levels in what he cites as being “the two most important subjects for the creation of positive social change” - psychology and sociology.
