A former director of a Falmouth estate agents will walk over 600 miles to fight a cancer which has afflicted several members of his family.

Paul Beevers from Porkellis, formerly of Heather and Lay, will be trekking the 630 mile length of the South West Coast path, to raise money for Prostate Cancer UK.

Paul said: “Prostate cancer is far more common in men than many people realise and in my family has accounted for my grandfather and afflicted my father and step father in law, both of whom are currently clear after treatment.

“I know of many others both personally and professionally that have been affected by this, most recently my former physio Louis Gifford whose passing at 60 was desperately sad.”

He added: “Nearly everyone knows someone who has been affected and so it seemed the natural choice of charity to dedicate the walk to.”

Paul will start his walk at Poole in Dorset on June 7, and hopes it will take him around six weeks to walk around the coast of Devon and Cornwall before finishing at Minehead in Somerset.

He said: “I am sure it will be the hardest thing I have ever tried to do but with the support of friends and family along the way I hope to finish it in one piece and raise over £3000 for Prostate Cancer UK.

“Thank you so much to those who have already sponsored me – your response has been amazing!”
