A woman was saved from the sea off the Roseland peninsula yesterday evening by RNLI volunteers.

Falmouth Inshore Lifeboat was called by Falmouth Coastguard shortly after 8pm, following reports of a person in difficulties in the water at Porthcurnick Beach near Portscatho, and arrived at the scene just before 8.30pm.

The Portscatho Coastguard cliff rescue team, police and ambulance were also tasked to assist.

Falmouth RNLI said: "The casualty was located at the waters edge and two lifeboat crew were put ashore to assist. The casualty was taken into the care of the police and ambulance personnel. "Once it was confirmed that no one else was in the water the Inshore Lifeboat was then released at 8.42pm to return to its station."
