Voters in Illogan will be going to the polls on Thursday, 10 July to elect a new Cornwall Councillor after Conservative councillor for the ward, Terry Wilkins, was outed as falsly claiming he was awarded an MBE.
The by election has been caused by the recent resignation of Terry Wilkins, who claimed he was the victim of an "elaborate and malicious hoax", by an “aggrieved ex-colleague”.
Mr Wilkins has also admitted that a "pending" degree in Health and Wellness was also a fiction.
The Notice of Election will be published on Friday, June 6, with the list of candidates standing for election published on Monday, June 16.
Members of the public have until midnight on Tuesday, June 24 to register to vote in the by-election.
