Vote for seat quit by 'fake MBE' Conservative councillor

Voters in Illogan will be going to the polls on Thursday, 10 July to elect a new Cornwall Councillor after Conservative councillor for the ward, Terry Wilkins, was outed as falsly claiming he was awarded an MBE.

The by election has been caused by the recent resignation of Terry Wilkins, who claimed he was the victim of an "elaborate and malicious hoax", by an “aggrieved ex-colleague”.

Mr Wilkins has also admitted that a "pending" degree in Health and Wellness was also a fiction.

The Notice of Election will be published on Friday, June 6, with the list of candidates standing for election published on Monday, June 16.

Members of the public have until midnight on Tuesday, June 24 to register to vote in the by-election.

Should any Councillor that claims to be Independent, for which they gain votes and are elected as such, remain in their position anymore than a Councillor that lays claim to a non existent MBE?
Where is the line drawn for honesty in a Councillor?

I meant, if they are not truly Independent, but standing for election as such!
