Falmouth and Helston are joining forces this month as businesses, organisations and individuals pledge practical support to build a new kitchen at BF Adventure The kitchen at the outdoor activity centre is an important part of the facilities, as part of the charity’s work with disadvantaged and disabled children is teaching them to look after themselves, including basic skills of making a hot drink, washing up, and preparing a meal.

Current plans should see the demolition of the existing old portable building in July with a view to beginning construction work by the end of that month.

BF Adventure is situated at Halvasso, between Falmouth and Helston, meaning both towns’ businesses have risen to the challenge. Chief executive officer Adrian Richards said: “People’s generosity is incredible and we are deeply grateful for all the offers of assistance we’ve received so far.”

Helston’s Inner Wheel and the Helston/Lizard Rotary Club have become actively involved, drawing on their own contacts to source the technical expertise and materials needed to get the building underway.

JDS Property and Developments Ltd will be donating the tile roof covering as well as project overview and building advice, Cornwall Aluminium Windows is supplying windows and doors with Penryn Plastics providing down pipes, guttering and fittings.

NT Roofing is providing the labour to put the donated roof on.
