The Big Lunch is set to return to Porthleven for the second year this Sunday, June 1.

Hosted by Porthleven Community Group, this is a nationwide event which started in 2009 as an idea from the Eden Project, near St Austell.

The aim was to encourage as many people as possible across the UK to have lunch with their neighbours once a year in “a simple act of community, friendship and fun”.

The Porthleven event will hopefully be held on The Moors playing field (behind Costcutter) but if the temperamental British weather prevents this, participants should head to Porthleven Public Hall for a start at noon.

Anyone is invited to come along with a picnic and blankets or chairs to join in the fun.

Craft activities will be available, as well as games of rounders for the energetic in the group.

Porthleven School’s signing choir will perform as well as Cornwall Dance School, who will be running a dance workshop for those wishing to get involved.

Porthleven Community Group aims to organise fun, social events to bring the people of the port together.

Anyone requiring more information about the group should contact its secretary, Katie, by calling 07985 458978 or emailing katiesthurston@gmail.com.
