Trebah Garden’s annual Military Day takes place on Saturday when the 100th anniversary of the start of World War One and the 70th anniversary of the D-Day landings will be commemorated.

Billed as “a family day rich in history,” there will be various activities and events throughout the day, between 10am and 6pm. These include a military vehicle display and performances by the Kernow Pipe and Drums, Ritzy Bells and shanty singers.

There will be a short service on the beach at 2.15pm ahead of a navy helicopter laying a sea wreath, with the assistance of the RNLI, at 3pm. At 3.30pm there will be a free fall drop by the Princess of Wales Royal Regiment team and 30 minutes later, a Royal Marine Commando assault team will land on the shore.
