Truro and Falmouth MP Sarah Newton has given her stamp of approval to the extensive modernisation work recently completed at Truro Post Office.

Praising Post Office investment in a “great service for the community” she cut the ribbon at the new-look branch on Wednesday.

The team at Truro Post Office (TR1 2AP) are now serving customers in a brighter, more modern, open-plan branch following refurbishment as part of a major Post Office investment programme.

The refurbished branch now has new open-plan counters, as well as a dedicated counter to accept mails. Four new self-service kiosks have also been introduced, giving customers sending letters and parcels even more options as to how they access Post Office services, reducing queue times for customers.

The branch also has a private consultation room in which customers can discuss Post Office’s  financial services products with trained staff.

Ms Newton said: “I am really pleased to be with the team here today to celebrate the excellent refurbishment of Truro Post Office.

“The impact of the investment in this branch is evident once you walk in the doors. This is now a modern space for a modern service. The new open-plan layout is particularly good, making it easier for customers and staff to converse.

“This is a great service for the community and I am sure that customers will appreciate and embrace the changes that have been made.”

Truro Post Office Manager Carole Trelease said: “A huge thank you to our customers from us all for your understanding during the refurbishment. It’s great to now have a modern office to welcome you all into.

“Come and use our new machines to post your mail, get your holiday money, passport and insurance sorted and speak to our in-branch expert for a great mortgage deal too. We really hope you like it.”
