Coaches, buses, mini-buses and cars that were owned by Cornish firm DAC Coaches have gone under the hammer in an online auction after the company went under in March.

Property and asset consultants at ES Group’s Exeter office held an online auction of the assets of DAC Coaches this month, on the instruction of liquidators at Richard J Smith and Co and a major finance company.

The auction saw the sale of four coaches, eleven service buses, as well as mini-buses and cars. Along with the vehicles, lots included garage equipment and office furniture, with some 63 successful purchasers from a pool of almost 150 registered bidders.

DAC Coaches traded for more than forty years but ceased trading in March 2014. The firm’s website has reported that all the former DAC drivers have since found employment in other coach companies across the region.

Major vehicle bids included an Enterprise Plaxton Primo 2 for £28,500, an Iveco Iris Beulas Steygo 70 seater coach for £28,000, and a Mercedes 0813 Vario Plaxton Beaver 2 for £23,500. Other notable lots sold included Four Stertil Koni ST-1055B inspection lifts at £6,900, four Stertil Koni 11,500kg car lifts at £2,200 and an Eclipse Testpad Extreme diagnostic for £1,600.

Simon Cornelius-Light from ES Group said: “ES Group’s experience and national presence assisted in generating widespread bidder interest with buyers from as far afield as Cork in Ireland, Glasgow, Pontypridd, Liverpool, Brecon and Southampton as well as the local market, generating more than 1,800 bids collectively. “
