UPDATE: Michael Johnson aged 50, from Tiverton has been charged with causing GBH with intent after the discovery of a man with a stab wound to the chest on the A30 in Cornwall.

He remains in custody and was due to appear at Truro Magistrates Court this morning.

UPDATE: The victim has been discharged from hospital. A 50 year-old man arrested after the discovery of a man with a stab wound to the chest on the A30 in Cornwall remains in custody at Launceston.

Police were called to an area of the A30 near to Lewannick yesterday around 7.30pm after reports of a man injured by the carriageway.

Officers attended and found a man with a chest injury, believed to have been caused by a stab wound.

The man, aged in his twenties, was airlifted to Derriford Hospital for treatment. His condition is described as stable and he has not suffered any life threatening or life changing injuries.

Officers believe the victim and suspect were involved in a minor traffic collision on the A30 involving a white BMW and a silver coloured Vauxhall Astra convertible before the altercation.

Following subsequent investigations a 50 year-old man from Tiverton was arrested in Somerset on suspicion of attempted murder. He remains in police custody.

Officers are keen to hear from any witnesses who saw either vehicle or the two men in the area to contact them on 101 quoting reference 715 of 2nd June 2014.
