A reward of £2,500 is being offered for information about an alleged theft at a St Ives hotel last month.

A large sum of money was allegedly taken from the safe, which was opened using a key, at the St Ives Harbour Hotel sometime between 6.30pm on Wednesday 28 May and 6.30am on Thursday 29 May 2014.

Police would like to speak to Malcolm Clements, aged 53, in connection with this incident, and are appealing for the public’s help in locating him.

The hotel is offering the reward for information leading to the arrest of Clements, who is from Birmingham, and has links to the Torbay area and the Midlands.

He is described as white, around 5ft 7ins, with blue eyes, a portly stomach and mousy, thin hair. He sometimes wears glasses and has a Birmingham accent.

DC Alex Pym, investigating officer, said: “We are keen to speak to Mr Clements as he may be able to assist us with our investigation. We urge anyone who knows where is he to contact us.”

Anyone with any information is asked to contact police on 101, or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111, quoting reference CR/076893/14.
