Jobs are set to be lost at the Cornwall College Group, blamed on restructuring and curriculum changes.

Up to 79 full-time equivalent posts are expected to go, meaning that over 100 people could lose their jobs

Debbie Wilshire, deputy chief executive of The Cornwall College Group, said: “Following the restructuring of The Cornwall College Group and the refocusing of our workforce to a career-led curriculum, we are anticipating a reduction of 79 full-time equivalent jobs.

“Our staff consultation process is underway and it is hoped that most staff affected will have the opportunity for voluntary redundancy, redeployment, retraining or retirement.

“All affected employees will be offered guidance and support and the group has a strong history of consultation with employees and is committed to working with elected representatives to consider ways to achieve the necessary reductions.

“The proposed reductions are expected to be complete by the end of August 2014.”
