Red carpet treatment for West Cornwall Ladies’ Luncheon Club
12:00pm Saturday 21st June 2014 in News
Members of the West Cornwall Ladies’ Luncheon Club were given the “red carpet treatment” when they held their annual social event at Falmouth’s Royal Duchy Hotel last Thursday.
Ladies were invited to wear their best finery, including hats and corsages.
Chairman Ann Oliver welcomed 67 members and paid tribute to the outgoing treasurer, Patsy Woodliff, who was relinquishing her position after seven stalwart years. She was presented with a basket of flowers.
After lunch the ladies were entertained by Twin Harmony, a singing group consisting of twins Jenna and Morwenna Matthews, accompanied on the piano by their mother Cath and joined by father John, who played the guitar.
Cath explained that the group had raised thousands of pounds for charity.
Their repertoire consisted of, amongst others, Morwenna singing “Slipping through my Fingers” from Abba, accompanied by Jenna on the flute, the Carpenters’ “Top of the World”, The White Rose” and the twins’ grandfather’s favourite “Soft as the Voice of an |Angel”. They finished with “As Long as I Have Music”.
A vote of thanks was given by Anne Dhanani.
After their lunch, the ladies assembled on the lawn in brilliant sunshine for a photo shoot.
The club is now “on holiday” until Thursday, September 11 and members have been reminded that their annual subscription must be in by July 1.
Anyone interested in joining should contact the secretary Julie Peart on |01326 372485.
