Friday the 13th didn’t seem to hold any superstitions for the 16 horses and riders that took part in the Breage and Germoe Bridleways Associations Summer Fun Ride.

Everyone was treated to a stirrup cup before setting off from Higher Sparnon in Carleen, courtesy of Philip Bray. Luck was in the group’s favour as it was a beautiful summer's evening with not a cloud in the sky.

Using the available tracks and bridleways in the area the riders, whose ages ranged from teenagers to pensioners, enjoyed a two hour ride just for fun.

Eileen Keeling, secretary of Breage and Germoe Bridleways Association, said: “The committee was absolutely delighted at such |a fantastic turnout, and would |like to thank everyone who |came along.”

The bridleways association holds events throughout the year, including an annual horse show that will be held on August 31 this year at the showground in Ashton. Proceeds will enable the group to cut bridleways and paths in the area.

The next event will be a fun dog show held behind the Lion and Lamb in Ashton on July 12.

New members are welcome. Join on Facebook, or attend the next meeting on July 7 at 8pm in the Lion and Lamb.
