58 jobs lost as Cornish milk depot closes

First published in News

The closure of a dairy depot in Cornwall will see 58 jobs lost.

Muller Wiseman Dairies at Pensilva near Liskeard will close, with distribution transferred to a depot in Bridgwater, Somerset.

The loss of jobs has been blamed on a reduction in demand for milk from the depot.

Managing director Carl Ravenhall said: "The whole team, together with union representatives worked extremely hard to find ways of addressing the challenges facing this depot, but unfortunately we have been unable to establish an economic basis for continuing to distribute milk from Pensilva.

"Our priority is to support those who are affected by this decision and we will be working with local agencies to ensure that each individual has access to the services which are available. "
