A very wet weather forecast has seen many of the outdoor and beach sports competitions planned for the Cornwall School Games in Truro cancelled.
With a warning of downpours and thunderstorms tomorrow, the "obvious associated risks to competitors" means that organisers have had to cancel all the outdoor sports where they cannot be moved to an indoor venue.
The following are cancelled and will not take place tomorrow:
• All the beach sports, including surfing, bodyboarding, beach volleyball
• Super 8s – Secondary Athletics
• Quad Kids – Primary Athletics
• Rugby 7s - Secondary
• Tag Rugby - Primary
• Grass Track Cycling
• Disability Football
• Golf Extreme – Secondary
• Tri Golf – Primary
• In2 Hockey – Primary
• Hockey - Secondary
The opening ceremony and registration will still go ahead at Richard Lander School with the same transport arrangements to other venues in and around Truro for all the other sports. Organisers have managed to get hold of as many local indoor facilities as possible and will try and reschedule the events, with further information to follow next week.
Competitors are advised to arrive with wet weather clothes.
