When Helston musical stalwart George Shutter passed away earlier this year, Helston Theatre Company decided they wanted to do something to honour their friend and musical director.
Paul Blaber, the company's chairman, came up with a solution – an evening of entertainment with a one act play, Alternative Accommodation by Pam Valentine.
This was followed by a song and dance selection entitled Musical Memories. Guest soloists Angela Thomas and Anthony Richards also entertained audiences as part of the second half.
The show was a roaring success and thanks to the hard work put in by the casts and creative teams, alongside the “overwhelming” generosity of the audiences, Helston Theatre Company has now announced it raised £1,000.
This will now be donated to Macmillan Cancer Support, the chosen charity in memory of George.
