School uniform was cast aside in favour of ball gowns and dress suits last Friday when year 11 students at Helston Community College celebrated leaving school.
This year’s prom, which took place at the Falmouth Hotel, involved a record number of almost 230 students, together with a large amount of staff.
They enjoyed a meal followed by dancing to a band into the evening.
To mark the occasion the girls donned dresses in every colour of the rainbow, while the boys looked slick in suits and ties.
Headteacher Dr Pat McGovern said: “Those students were an absolute tribute to their parents and college. They were just transformed into young men and women – beautiful ball gowns and boys all suited up.”
The majority of students arrived on three coaches laid on by the college from Helston, but some chose to arrive in style by picking their own modes of transport.
“We had a lovely evening – not a single bit of trouble. The hotel complimented them on their behaviour. They were model students,” added Dr McGovern.
