Falmouth Primary School had a taste of South America last week with a conga and zumba based activity day.
With sunshine to match the tropical theme, the pupils turned out on the playground to follow teachers in a dance fitness routine, before forming up in a line to conga round the playing field, and finally having a zumbathon dance-off between year groups.
The event was part of the school’s efforts for Sports Relief week, which saw the children taking part in inter-house activities all week, and the zumbathon was sponsored to raise money to help street children, while year 6 pupils spent a night sleeping in cardboard boxes to try to better understand what the children they are hoping to help will have to experience.
Year 3 class teacher Hannah Johnson, who organised the event with teacher Jane Alexander, said: “They’ve loved it, and had a fantastic week.
“They loved the dancing, and it’s been a really exciting and enjoyable week for them.”
