A woman was rescued from a fire at a house in Penryn to which six fire service vehicles were called on Saturday night.

The woman, who was rescued before fire fighters arrived, was taken from one of two properties on fire at the rear rear of The Terrace at around 9.30pm.

A spokesperson for Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service said: "The fire involves two terraced properties consisting of two floors and measuring approxmately fifteen metres by fifteen metres.

"In attendance are two fire appliances from Falmouth fire station, one fire appliance from Truro fire station and one fire appliance from Helston fire station. The control unit from St Just fire station and the breathing apparatus main control unit from Falmouth fire station.

"Two hose reels and four breathing apparatus sets are in use. Water being supplied by hydrant."
