A teenager appeared in court at Truro because his father reported him to the police for taking his car.
Dale Paul Chapman, aged 18, of Carey Park, Helston, pleaded guilty at Truro Magistrates' Court to using a vehicle without insurance at Helston on June 14.
Graham Calderwood, for the CPS, said Chapman said afterwards he had had an argument with another male on the internet and had taken the car to go and confront him.
Chapman, who received a police caution for taking the vehicle, was banned from driving for 14 days and fined £110 with £20 victim surcharge.
